An April 2005 editorial by me written in response to a “history test” being circulated on the Internet in defense of the Iraq War and racial profiling as an anti-terrorism tactic.
This article describes how a Year 2003 lobbying campaign by the ultra-conservative American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) tried to use public fear of terrorism to push through legislation that would allow for any form of environmental advocacy—even signing a petition—to be classified as potential "terrorist" activity that would be both illegal, and grounds for investigation and prosecution. /div>
